Case Study: How a Manchester Facilities Company Unified Their Brand With Embroidered Workwear

·2 min read

The Challenge: 40 Staff, 4 Divisions, Zero Consistency

When a facilities management company based in Manchester approached Customised Workwear, their situation was common but frustrating. They had 40 employees split across four service divisions — cleaning, maintenance, grounds, and security. Every division had sourced their own uniforms at different times from different suppliers. The result was a workforce that looked like four separate companies operating under one roof.

Their contracts manager put it plainly: “When we pitch for new contracts, we bring staff with us to site visits. They look unprofessional and we know it’s costing us. We need to look like one company.”

The Solution: A Unified Workwear Bundle Across All Divisions

We worked with their management team to develop a unified workwear bundle that maintained a consistent brand identity across all four divisions while using functional differences to distinguish between roles.

The core garments were: a polo shirt in the company’s navy blue for all outdoor and physical roles, a corporate softshell jacket for managers and client-facing staff, a hi-vis vest with embroidered branding for grounds and maintenance teams, and a black fleece for security staff.

All garments carried the same embroidered company logo on the left chest, with a secondary embroidered division identifier on the right chest. This meant a client could identify both the company and the specific team without any confusion.

The Results

Three months after deploying the new uniforms, the contracts manager reported back. Staff morale had visibly improved — people were arriving on site in their uniforms rather than arriving and changing, which had previously been a persistent issue. Client feedback, both formal and informal, referenced the improved professional appearance. Most importantly, within the same quarter, the company won two new contract pitches they’d been shortlisted for previously without success.

Whether the uniform was the deciding factor is impossible to quantify. But the contracts manager had no doubt: “We looked the part for the first time. That has to count for something.”
