It's Workwear

Workwear for landscaping and grounds care teams

Clothing for a trade that works outdoors all year, in and out of client gardens, with machinery in the mix.

Grounds work is outdoors in everything, and the clothing has to deal with wet, cold, sun and brambles across the same week. The practical answer is layers that can be shed: a breathable base and polo, a fleece or softshell over it, and a waterproof that lives in the van. One heavy jacket is a worse answer than three light pieces.

This trade also sells on appearance more than most owners expect. Domestic landscaping work is largely won on a neighbour seeing a tidy, branded crew in someone else's front garden. A legible logo on the back of a polo is doing marketing in the one place your competitors are not advertising.

Where chainsaws or brushcutters are used, the leg protection is a separate specification and not a general-purpose trouser. Keep that kit distinct in your order rather than hoping a hard-wearing trouser covers it.

What this trade needs

  • Polo shirts, breathable

Worn in the sun and under layers. A moisture-managing fabric earns its difference here.

  • Fleece or softshell

The layer that is on and off twice a day for eight months of the year.

  • Waterproof jacket

Kept in the van for the day the forecast is wrong.

  • Hard-wearing work trousers

Brambles, thorns and kneeling. Ripstop or a reinforced panel pays for itself.

  • Chainsaw protective trousers

A separate, specified garment where saws are used — never a substitute for a tough trouser.

  • Safety boots

Toe protection, and a sole that copes with mud rather than only with concrete.

The standards that apply

These are garment standards, not site rules. A standard belongs to the individual item and its certificate — so when a garment is specified for you, the certificate is what proves it, not a line on a web page.

EN ISO 11393
Protective clothing for hand-held chainsaw users, by design type and chain speed. Applies to the saw trousers above, not to general workwear.
EN ISO 20345
Safety footwear and its slip-resistance and water-resistance markings.

Settle this before you order

  • Whether any of the team uses a chainsaw, which adds a specified garment rather than a tougher one.
  • Summer and winter kit as one order, so you are not buying twice at the worst moment.
  • Whether the logo goes on the back as well as the chest — in this trade the back is the advert.
  • Head count including seasonal staff, if you take people on for the growing season.

Send us those answers and we will price it

You do not need all of them. Trade, head count and where the logo goes is enough to get a useful quote back.
